About Ithera Energy

Our name comes from "Yyth", the Old English word for wave.

Wave energy complements wind and solar by drawing on the ocean’s enduring movement, helping create a more balanced, resilient and secure national energy system.

Building on recent advances in the sector, we’re developing modular wave energy converter technology for marine environments where conventional power is expensive, carbon-intensive or difficult to deliver.

We're commercially-led and intensely practical, focusing on applications where reliable wave power can help improve resilience and reduce costs for offshore operations.

Together, our founders bring decades of experience solving hard practical problems across engineering, operations, climate change and rapid commercial growth.

Jon is a former British Army officer who brings 20 years' experience working with lean, impact-led startups, raising investment and building enduring partnerships.

Chief Technology Officer

Rod is an FIMechE engineer who brings deep mechanical design experience and the technical insight behind Ithera’s core wave energy concept.
